Chewing Slower Doesn't Make it Any Quiter

In a movie theater/auditorium/opera house:

*crinkle, crinkle*

*crinkle*

For God's sake, just open the damn hard candy! Unwrap it already, rip of the wrapper like a bandaid.

What so many people don't understand is the physics of sound. Actually, I don't either. I'm completely makeing that up. But really, think about it. Those other concert-goers aren't really doing the rest of us a favor by trying to mask the sound of thier lozenge wrappers. It is completely noticeable and obnoxious to hear the drawn-out labors of one who is trying so very hard to seem non-chalant about thier inability to just wait, goddamit, until the intermission to indulge their sweet-tooth. Please, do us a favor. When the time comes that you absolutely need to have a hard candy, do it quick. Rip off that wrapping quickly for the sake of our ears. When I go to see Dvorak's "New World Symphony," I don't want to hear cellophane too.

Trends for Spring: Tea Party Outfits

With spring approaching, along with it comes flowers, lemonade, and, of course, flouncy dresses. And what better way to combine all three than with a tea party?

Some necessities to look positively adorable:

A bright and colorful dress. I'm personally fond of dresses from Anthropologie, like this one:

Also, a cute and unique headband is a sure way to look put together and confident. Ban.do has some great options.

Finally, be sure to have on some stylish jewelry. Etsy has some great homemade and vintage finds.

Writing Conference 2009

This year started in a bit of a hurry. My room was locked, when unlocked every computer needed to be booted. The remote for the overhead was off. Getting everything set up I was late to grab my one homeschooler for the conference from across the street, but she made it anyway. Thank goodness for large signs indicating the name of the building straight across the street.

Montrose high school is on spring break, but they were here anyway to dazzle us with a poetry slam. I was dazzled. The guy who froze managed to impact me most by the way he jumped back in after the freeze. The piece had more power. It was like a pause. Someone should tell him that. He played it well.

First workshop worked well, six students and plenty of surprise at what I had planned. I hope they spread the word. I have no idea what to expect out of my second round, or what I am going to write considering I am writing everything now.

But this is a good day.

Maybe I'll write about Foer's book, and what I expect his Q and A to be like, and whether I'll have the guts to ask my question.

**********************

This is the second hour. I decided a second post was unnecessary, considering I'm just the coordinator of this blog. This one belongs to the students. The idea behind it is that they can get some blog writing practice in, some exposure, and maybe some great feedback. Best case, they get a job.

There are four with me here this second workshop, so I shut down the rest of the twenty-five computers that we didn't even use, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I've discovered the people interested in a genre are likely going to come in groups rather than individually. This time, they were just small groups.

Hopefully in the next few months I have repeat writers to this blog and we can really dress it up and attract some readership. If nothing else, it will be somewhere to write about things they don't get to write about in school, still with an air of professionalism.
The sixth installment of J.K. Rowling's hit series, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince is said to hit the theaters on July 21, 2009. The Movie was originally intended to hit the theaters the same day as the also popular Twilight movie, but was delayed to avoid a clash between the two movies in the box office. Although Rowling has finished the Harry Potter series with final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the movies are not yet finished. The seventh and last movie is said to be ready in the year 2011. After a slight disappointment a couple years back with the performance of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, We all hope to see a more satisfying movie this summer.
The Fifth movie did not follow the book as closely as the previous movies had and left most fans of the series very disappointed. I am definately hoping for a much better movie that follows more closely to the sixth book.

The Tragedys of Soap Operahs

Over the years the soap operas of television have dramatically increased in their stupidness and irrelevance. Where one extremely iffy relationship used to take up the hour of the soaps alloted time, now the show will pour five or six extremely corny relationships in this same hour. This allows for more total boredom for viewers unless, of course, you are either gay or a women.
An innocent man meandering through the channels in the middle of the day will now find seven to eight of their favorite channels consumed by extravagant romances. A brilliant television critic, Iqviz07 states that soap operah's are one of the greatest tragedy's of mankind. Soap Operahs have become a horrible onslaught on our television world that need to be slaughtered from our screens.

Wii Can't Get You "Fit"

Have you ever heard of running? Tragically, people of today seem to be desperate in finding any way of exercising, other then getting outdoors. "Wii Fit" poses as being a great, fun way to getting in shape. They say that you can bern calories playing a video game, without having to go outdoors into the blistering sun.

This is a fantasy that just doesn't exist. Athletes like Steve Prefontane and Arnold Swartionager didn't become the legends that they are from jumping in front of a T.V. If your looking for a fun way to exercise, try sports. There's nothing like a little friendly competition to get your heart racing.

There was once a time where America thrived on hard work and exercises. It is our duty to bring this pastime back to our great country! You WILL be a happier and more confidant person. As the historical company Nike says, "Just Do It".
